30 Minute Aurora Forecast
Auroral Oval (North Pole)
Auroral Oval (South Pole)
The aurora models shown above are based on the OVATION model. They represent the current 30 to 90 minute forecasts of the location and intensity of the aurora. The forecast lead time varies because it is the time taken for the solar wind to travel from the Lagrange 1 point to Earth. Auroras for many people are the only way they can experience space weather. One does not need to be directly underneath the aurora to see it. In fact the aurora can be seen as far away as 1000 km if they are bright!
